A very special city

The remodeling of Bordeaux is finally over after quite a few years of hard work. The limestone of the 18th century docks is once again clean and reflects beautifully in the river. Bordeaux to me is a little Paris without the rude waiters. You should come visit!

The annual brocante starts next weekend. It is a high end flee market set on the largest square in the city by the river… I cannot wait! I will go and post tons of pictures :0)e30caf8078d54b850796af9a96ce8f4c-1 IMG_4410 IMG_4500 _Snapseed IMG_4509 _Snapseed P1040659 _Snapseed IMG_4529 P1020903 _Snapseed P1040583 _Snapseed P1040616 _Snapseed P1040688 _Snapseed

Me too! By the time you come, I hope to be done with the first chapter to my book. Can’t wait to get your feedback! 😉

  8. You can make anything stunning with your photography! I remember Bordeaux already to be a nice city when I visited in 2004. It was so hot that we went into the fountain that is shown in your picture!

    1. My French Heaven says:

You know they had hidden that fountain in the river during the war and it was discovered by accident years later…

It is very gay too, which was quite daring for the times when it was designed. The two main statues are men looking into each other’s eyes with great intensity…

      1. Hmmm I don’t remember that aspect, but I do remember we thought it was a nice fountain 🙂
I just tried to see if we had any pictures and noticed it was actually in 2000 instead of 2004 that we were there. Time sure does fly!

  9. Bordeaux – were even the tram looks good! You are correct about the people being friendly – they seemed more relax than people in Paris. We loved everything here – from the Gare, to the Chartrons district, to the Place de la Bourse, to the nightly dances by the riverfront, to the fashionable and elegant French ladies. The city seems very vibrant and full of joie de vivre.

I hope you get to come visit again soon Eduardo!

Surely the Parisian waiters are not rude to the French, just the English speaking visitors! I can’t wait to see your photos of the antique market.

    1. My French Heaven says:

They are rude to EVERYBODY!! 🙂

🙂 When I was a little girl, I used to tell make up stories. My favorite one was about a girl named Ann from Bordeaux. I’d never been there, but I was 10 years old and obsessed with anything French. Good to finally see pictures of it.

    1. My French Heaven says:

What a sweet story Leilani! I hope you get to come soon and experience it for yourself!
