My favorite antique fair

Flea market

The village of Rauzan is located about 15 minutes from my house on the other side of the river. Twice a year, Rauzan hosts a remarkable antique fair near the old castle. Hundred of brocante and antique store owners gather there with a huge variety of objects. Silver, linens, tableware, armoires, toys…

This time I bought some enamel pots and plates as well as some table linen and a few antique coffee cups (the red and white ones in the picture).

I hope I get to take you there with me someday…

How beautiful! I’d love to get some antique plates and cookware. I always find antique shops to be mostly fascinating, but one part creepy. So much history in one room, so many stories waiting to be told. Lovely photos as usual.

You are right Amanda. Parts of it are really creepy, especially the old dolls and teddies…

Oh, how I wish I could have been there! How I envy you for having these beautiful brocantes, if only for being able to photograph all these gems. On the other hand: good for my wallet, would have bought lots of stuff I donΒ΄t need πŸ™‚
Merci for sharing what must have been an enchanting excursion!

    1. My French Heaven's avatar My French Heaven says:

    1. My French Heaven's avatar My French Heaven says:

You are so right Sandy. I just have to remind myself that it’s mostly useless stuff that I can very well survive without or I’d buy half of the items on display…

  21. You got some enamel! I’m so pleased for you. I found some beautiful linens recently at a nearby thrift store but hesitated to buy them, as I didn’t really need them (two pillow shams and a beautifully cut tablecloth for a small, square table.) A few weeks later, I was passing and saw a 50% off sign and decided on a whim to go in and see if these were included. They were and are now in our house. πŸ™‚

Your photos remind me of the market at L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. What fun to roam around and see all the amazing (and sometimes horrifying) things for sale.

I’m glad you got the linens you wanted. Good linens are essential. There are one of two ladies at the brocante who sell the really good old table linens. My mom is crazy about them. Some of hers is over 100 years old and looks and feel fantastic…

  22. Andris's avatar Andris says:

I love the pics of the brocante. Another reason to visit…

Brocantes are wonderful around here. You just have to liit yourself to a budget. Mine is always 100 euros πŸ˜‰ πŸ™‚
