OK so there I was scanning Youtube for a Lightroom tutorial when I fell on (or “into” like a deep black hole) a Jerry Springer video. I think the last time I “watched” a Jerry Springer show was almost 20 years ago. What a disgusting display of human filth… I’m not talking about the poor people on stage who were probably all abused as children and have lived horrific lives. I’m talking about the hosts of these shows themselves. However they want to justify what they do, it is pure evil to me… And as you know, on the side bar of Youtube, you have a list of videos which are somewhat related to the content you are currently watching. And yes, my animal instincts got the better of me and I did click on a show called “Cheaters”. I felt so dirty after watching it that I had to clean my mind somehow. I had to fill my head with positive and uplifting images. So I went on my favorite website: Pinterest. There I binged on Christmas pins for about an hour. OK three hours!
I have already started to build my annual Christmas inspired board. I erase it every year in January so I don’t get stuck with too many of the same ideas from one year to the next. Go check it out here. You’ll find plenty of incredible links with DIY stuff from deco to lights to cookies and trees etc.
I am hosting Christmas at my parents’ home this year. It’s the only house large enough to host the whole family. I will write a post in the next week or so detailing my plans and menus. Here are some of the pins you’ll find on my Christmas board on Pinterest. I will continue adding some as I do my research between now and Christmas.
Note: None of the images here are mine. They were collected on Pinterest. If you are the original owner of an image and want me to delete it from this site, just ask. I will do it at once.
Lovely post thanks for sharing , lovely ideas looking forward to following your collection on pinterest and a very happy Christmas to you .
I was going to compliment you for the first image. It’s gorgeous! The mood and the snow… I can only watch Jerry Springer for at most 20 minutes… I find it all so fake. Great collection of pins. I’ve just followed your board.
You do this stuff so well my friend. It is always a pleasure to read your posts.
Best,
Conor
Three pics grabbed my attention and fancy more than others… the angel shaped turnovers (I plan to make individual tourtières this way or even mince pies), the cork reindeer for the table (I used to have a full-sized birch version for the garden), and the Christmas tree shaped napkins… the rest is all eye candy designed to set the mood. I can’t pity you for cooking for 34 people – what fun you’ll have (I’m serious). Can’t wait to see the preparations. You certainly know how to build up suspense :-)))
I hope I’ll have time to blog about it all… 🙂
I knew you’d been busy. Every time I visit Pinterest your Christmas pins are there for all the world to see, because your taste is fabulous, the images amazing..
Thanks Sandra! Christmas is by far my favorite holiday! It takes so much planning and work to be ready though… I guess preparing Christmas for your family is a problem a lot of people would like to have… Have a lovely day S!
You’re a national treasure. I am the host of the event this year also -for 31-so am keen to steal and copy anything you do .
Ha ha! I beat you Francesca. I’ll have 34 this year. Listen to me bragging. I’ll be sorry the day of, I know it. You know they’ll all have a good time and you and I will be slaving away in the kitchen. Fine by me. I hate large functions in general and small talk in particular!
Oooh yuck, I’m so sorry your mind was spoiled by J.S., but the benefit is you now have new ideas for the holidays! I’ll have to go check out your Pinterest board after I get through the Thanksgiving dinner I’ll be hosting for 12 others this Thursday. 🙂
I think 12 is the perfect size for Thanksgiving. Just enough to have fun and not to many so you’ll kill yourself working… Knowing you, it’s going to be very special!
Thank you so much Stephane!
Thank you for the inspiration, my Friend. During our transition we are living in a kind of dingy basement, light filled, but a basement apartment. I guess the real question is how to transform it into something really beautiful for the holidays. You have my mind racing now…Merry Christmas.
As long as you have light, all is good Katie! I remember having Christmas in a basement once at an uncle’s in Montréal. It was actually a big success. Something to do with the cocoon feeling of the place… I will post about my Christmas plans after Thanksgiving. One thing at a time right? Have a lovely day!
I love these for inspiration. It will
be interesting to see your take on some of these!
As you know the house is large and although my sister is supposed to help, I know she won’t do any of the decorating. I think I’ll just use tons of branches of all sorts and lots of lights… I will also put a large screen up in the lounge and project an old Disney movie like Snow White or Sleeping Beauty…
I love your train of thought… from Springer to hosting Christmas with your parents…lol! Love the Christmas cookies stamped with the glasses. 🙂
I love it, incredibly beautiful and the embossed cookie using a glass is brilliant!!
I just wish I could bake 😉
I am sure you can, you are fueled by passion for all things beautiful.
Of course, as usual, I just love it all! The crystal glass printing the cookies is particularly lovely, as is the evergreen gown!
Quite a change from Jerry Springer and Cheaters😝
Christmas scenes are very soothing in my mind. Our hamlet lit its 6 Christmas lights yesterday and it warmed my heart. Now, I just need to find people for us to celebrate with. We are going to do a Traditional Thanksgiving on Thursday just for the two of us. Anyone want to join us?
I so would if I could! I wish we had thanksgiving in France. Maybe I’ll do my own… I don’t think I can down a turkey all by myself though 😉
That’s the problem. All those leftovers!
If you are free, consider yourself invited.
Bless you, Stéphane, for sharing beauty and light. Have a Merry Christmas. 🙂
You too dear Julie!
I so agree with you about the vermin on such reality shows. I just can’t understand how people can watch such things.
such lovely ideas. I am a sucker for as many twinkly lights as possible.
Oh I know! The lights are essential!!
