(In English below)
I went back to my favorite brocante (flea market) in Casteljaloux last month. I had heard of a large shipment of silver coming from a local inn that had been put up for sale at auction recently. The owner of the brocante had given me a call a few days before as she knew I had been looking for a vintage silver sauce boat. She had two large ones she was sure I would love. Let me just say that I wasn’t disappointed I made the trip! I bought the sauce boat, a small silver tray, plates and silver soup bowls. I am now poor but happy :0)
All the pictures here are new, but I included one I took of Mom on our last visit because the post lacked a bit of life. Mom is 82 years old and full of life, which compensates with the dullness of the other shots :0)
I will give directions to this wonderful brocante to my guests at the B&B. I am sure they will fall in love with the place and its delightful owner…
Wonderful collage of beautiful images.
You are kind. Thank you!
ciao! no doubt your flea market must be much fun and how special the photo of your mother…she is just beautiful.

Thanks! She is half Italian you know! 😉
Oh, I’d love, love to spend a morning shopping there… thanks for letting us tag along.
One day you will Rhonda! Remember I’m only a plane ride away 🙂
Always such lovely photos of beautiful things!
😉
Absolutely beautiful images! Your mother is stunning! She looks fantastic for 82!
We need to introduce our moms to each other (one another? I’m not sure). They could become friends 🙂
Completely agree. Two incredible women. Something to aspire to!
I love vintage silver. 🙂 Your mum looks fabulous!
Wonderful pictures.
My god I wish I could have gone there too! The pictures look luscious and your Mum does /not/ look 82! Tell her she looks wonderful.
I will tell her thank you! We’ll go there together one day 😉
-grin- We might have to take a couple of bodyguards to stop me from buying everything I see!
@”Je n’ai pas été déçu du voyage…” – I do believe you, young man… 🙂 Tout est vraiment magnifique!

Off-topic with your kind permission… 🙂 je vais préparer pour la 1ère fois(First of May oblige!) des cuisses de poulet avec: marrons, pleurottes, oignons blancs, une tomate, qqs gousses d’ail… en dessert: apple&pear crumble with speculos, what do you think?… 🙂 Thanx in advance & have a great May day! 🙂 Amitiés toulousaines, Mélanie
Ca me semble pas mal du tout ton poulet aux pleurottes! Et les crumbles aux speculos sont toujours un succès. Moi ce sera sandwich au fromage 🙂 Passes une bonne journée!!
This makes me smile, as I glance up at the dinner bell we bought at a brocante in Vannes.
Beautiful photos…
Thanks Bill! I still have my grandmother’s dinner bell here 🙂 A reminder of the good old days…
Gorgeous photos! I love shopping for vintage tableware!
Thanks! One of my favorite past times as well 🙂
thank you for dropping by and liking my post! your blog is beautiful! will be following!
Gorgeous photos as always!
You are, as always, too kind 🙂 🙂
A treasure trove and your mum is the best of the bunch!
Thanks J !
Lovely pictures. It looks like a great place to spend some happy browsing time. I’m interested in how you get the effects on your photos – do you use filters?
Hi Sarah! For some of them I do and for some I don’t… It really depends on the mood and the quality of the original shot… 🙂
très belle série ♥ dont maman en est la “star” 😉
les objets sont savamment mis en valeur par les traitements et les cadrages.
Merci!!
I’m jealous that looks like one great place to shop. I love old crockery myself, I’ve been collecting 1920’s Art Deco tea items for the last few months. Recently bought a beautiful chrome cake stand. Great photos as usual 🙂
Art Deco (with what we call “empire” in France) is my absolute favorite style! I remember a coffee pot I saw at Tiffany’s one time. It was absolutely stunning. I just didn’t have the 2500$ for it though… When you come visit, we’ll go look for items for your collection. Art deco has always been big around here…
That my friend is a tempting offer. I’m heading down to France next week to visit my Parents in Cascastel des Corbieres – which as you may know is in the Aude. Very much looking forward to be back in France. Perhaps you could suggest some regional recipes from the Aude I could try?
Your mother is remarkable. Her energy and love of life does indeed brighten up the world. My mother turned 82 this year. She is a ballet seamstress. When I spoke with her last night, she described the latest tutu she was working on. May we have the same resilient enthusiasm for life….
I think they do! 😉
beautiful. you could frame each one of those!
Oh you are too kind Mimi! 🙂
A wonderful gallery. Love the copper pots. 😉
Thanks Cynthia. You know, I need to cook more with the copper pots. Like cast iron, they just make everything taste a litter better… 🙂
Oh my God, I love your photos!
Why thanks Kerstin, you are very kind!!
Beautiful! Antiquing is so wonderful. What lovely things you’ve found!
Thanks Eliza! I am crazy about vintage tableware… 🙂
This post is so charming, in fact, dreamy. Lovely spread of photographs.
Thanks! Coming from you, that means a lot! 🙂
I really like these photos. Wish we had markets or auctions like this.
It is a very special place indeed 🙂
I polish silver at the rate of 45 Euros per hour…if you are interested.
Very reasonable! I’ll consider it 🙂
As always, great photographs. And I love that gravy boat with the little tray. How elegant is that design!
I love this sauce boat so much. You are right about the design. It feels like if I rub it well enough a genie will appear 🙂
Absolutely gorgeous! I would love to go there and visit the brocante. Thank you so much for sharing those lovely photos. Dreamy…!
I’ll take you there myself one day! 🙂
I love believing that if I read enough of your French, I will start to understand it. It’s lovely, and it makes me feel cultured and divine. I took French for five years, and only learned a great accent. My best friend was in the class and we laughed most of the time or were in trouble. These photos are rich and gorgeous. I feel blessed to have seen them. Thank you!
Why thanks Liesl! What you are experiencing with French, it was the same for me with German. Except I always hated German 😉
LOVELY photos! I spent a good few minutes staring at all of them.
Why thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed them 🙂
Wonderful shots Stephane
Thanks Lynn! It is always so much fun to go there… We’ll go together sometime 🙂
Delightful! I will take one of each. 🙂
HA HA 😉
