  1. Loved Montmartre because of all the artist ghosts. Also visited Grez-sur-Loing because of its association with Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson and his American wife (quite a character) and Alexander Reid, the Scot who was painted by Vincent van Gogh and who worked beside his brother Theo was a time, lodging with them both. So I was in search of ghosts, but enjoyed the wine, the food and the sights along the way.

Actually I’m quite puzzled..When I was in Europe, I enjoyed Italy the most but after I came home, I miss France greatly…..and will probably revisit Paris again plus the south. πŸ™‚

I would be very upset if you didn’t visit when you’re in France! There is so much I’d want to show you around Bordeaux my friend! LOVED your zucchini pasta post by the way!!

My friend in Paris was running late for work one day, yet he seemed calm. I told him, ‘Hey, you’re late!’ He said, ‘You see in America you live to work, in France, we work to live!’ That has always stuck with me.

Wise friends you have Joseph πŸ˜‰

  5. I fell over heels with France when I landed there some years ago and I kept going back every year because I just can’t get the taste of French cheese out of my memory. I adore the way people think and behave. It is a country of freedom and joy of life. I wish I could live there…..but…..I can only blog about it for now. πŸ™‚

I love Labenne, an hour north of Biarritz for the ocean, the forest, the beach, the way of life, the food. I love Toulouse for its beautiful pink buildings, the people, little shops selling trinkets, toys, homewares, specialist things…in France it seems the spirit of independence thrives…people would visit a local baker over the supermarket, the greengrocer over the supermarket…or so it seems to me…I love the language & the men πŸ™‚

We have a house in Guethary right below Biarritz. I LOVE it there!! πŸ˜‰

      1. Miss Chipie says:

Wow, you are very lucky…we have visited Guethary for the day – such a beautiful place & the written form of the Basque language looks so unusual.

  7. Really, only 3% so far for chateaux? I LOVE the castles — but I love all the other stuff too.

    1. My French Heaven says:

I was surprised too! Of course food came first πŸ˜‰ Thanks for participating JM!

I’ve only ever visited Paris, spent about 3 weeks all up there and would return tomorrow. But what I loved about my time there is hard to condense into a few words. There is a certain ” je ne sais qu’Γ  ” about France and the French that is enchanting. Food, wine, culture, markets, fashion, museums, galleries, history, lifestyle, oh and baguettes.

    1. My French Heaven says:

      It’s the baguettes that’ll get you πŸ˜‰

  10. I love to sit in a cafe with a croissant and a cafe au lait and watch the people go by!

My daughter would say everything. Me, I love the markets, the countryside, the food, especially in Provence, and, of course, the wine. You’ve found a way to enjoy it all.

    1. My French Heaven says:

I think the market is my favorite place to be. Thank you for your feedback Lulu!
